Why do some fundraising campaigns gain momentum while others stall?

It is not enough to tell the story once and wait for results. The work needs to continue and, as far as possible, be regular: keeping people informed about the situation, staying in touch with supporters and making sure the fundraising campaign does not disappear from view.

Why do some fundraising campaigns gain momentum while others stall?

When a family is told that their child has a serious diagnosis, it can feel as though the main task is simply to raise the necessary amount for treatment as quickly as possible. But a personal fundraising campaign is not just a single post asking for help. It is a process that requires proper organisation, time, support and consistent effort.

One of the family’s most important resources at the very beginning is their immediate circle: friends, relatives, acquaintances and colleagues. These are often the first people parents can rely on throughout the fundraising process.

Another important factor is consistency.

It is not enough to tell the story once and wait for results. The work needs to continue and, as far as possible, be regular: keeping people informed about the situation, staying in touch with supporters and making sure the fundraising campaign does not disappear from view. In the interview, Zukhra emphasises that, where possible, this work should be done every day.

At the same time, parents are caring for their child, speaking with doctors, arranging tests, dealing with paperwork and managing treatment. That is why it is important to understand that asking for help with organising the fundraising campaign itself is completely normal.

At MCI, families can receive support not only with finding the right doctor and clinic. We also help them explore possible ways of funding treatment, including working with charitable foundations and organising personal fundraising campaigns.

In our team, this area is handled by Zukhra. She helps families organise their fundraising efforts in a structured way and supports them throughout the process.

Perhaps the most important thing we want to say to parents at the very beginning is this: do not face this situation alone. There may be people around you who are ready to support you, help you and simply stay in touch.
