For more than 40 years, he has specialized in the treatment of sarcomas. He is one of the founders of the Spanish Group for Research on Sarcomas (GEIS) and participates in international clinical trials.

Sarcoma is not a single diagnosis. The term covers more than 80 different tumor subtypes, which can behave very differently and require different approaches to treatment. This is why the experience of a specialized pathologist, precise identification of the tumor subtype, and an expert assessment of each individual case are especially important.

Another important point the doctor emphasizes is that after expert review, up to 30–40% of sarcoma diagnoses may be refined or changed. And sometimes this means that the treatment plan changes as well. That is why a second opinion for sarcoma is not just a formality. It is an opportunity not to miss an important treatment option.
