Treatment Has Been Found. But How Can It Be Funded?
Finding the right doctor and clinic is only one part of a family’s journey. Once a treatment plan has been established, another difficult question often arises: how can the treatment be funded?
At MCI, we are therefore developing our cooperation with charitable foundations and building direct relationships with organisations that help children and their families access financial support for medical treatment.
Recently, MCI representative Anna Kuzmina met in St Petersburg with Anastasia Raevskaya, Director of the Our Children Charitable Foundation.
For us, this meeting was part of a wider, systematic effort to build closer relationships with charitable organisations. Our aim is to help families navigate the funding process with greater clarity and support, rather than having to find their way through it alone.
During the meeting, Anastasia explained how families can work with a charitable foundation and discussed a number of practical questions:
- which documents are required when applying to a foundation;
- how a foundation decides whether to take on a fundraising case;
- what information families need to provide while fundraising is under way;
- whether treatment can begin before the full amount has been raised;
- what happens if the clinic changes during the fundraising process;
- whether families should approach other foundations if one organisation declines their application.
The full interview will be available soon on our YouTube channel.
For MCI, working with charitable foundations is a natural extension of the medical navigation we provide to families.
We help families identify an appropriate specialist and clinic, obtain a medical treatment plan and understand the preliminary cost of treatment. If financial assistance is also required, our role is to help families explore possible routes, including charitable foundations, partner initiatives and personal fundraising campaigns.
Our goal is to ensure that families are not left alone — not only when searching for the right treatment, but also when trying to understand how that treatment can become financially possible.
